While I love living in a tourist town, there are a few times a year when the city population explodes a little too much for people living here to enjoy our day to day activities. I know this comes as part of living in paradise and that others want to share in this experience however, it makes doing everyday things just that much harder for us.
Semana Santa (Easter break) is one of those times. Starting April 9th this year and running for two weeks, it is time to make plans to escape and make more room for the revellers. The first couple of days of Semana Santa can be exciting as you see carloads of people from Guadalajara and other cities coming into the city excited to explore the beaches and the town. But then, after a couple of days of crowded beaches, traffic, no parking and busy stores, I have had my fix and need to leave.
And well selling real estate here in Puerto Vallarta is almost impossible as every condo and home is at full occupancy.
So what to do to escape the crowded beaches in Puerto Vallarta, why not take this time to go explore the cities where the visitors come from.
Normally very busy cities like Guadalajara or Mexico City appear to have half their population leave during Semana Santa to explore beach destinations such as Puerto Vallarta. During this time you can find great deals on hotels, the attractions are noticeably less busy and you can get into any restaurant you want. And the weather is near perfection for those getting ready for approaching summer in Puerto Vallarta.
And an added benefit, I get my shopping fix.
