Taking kids to a restaurant, as any parent knows, can be a challenge. Here are a few of my own family’s favorite spots and menu choices.
Barracuda, Cinco de Diciembre
With tables right on the beach, kids can build sandcastles or play at the ocean’s edge while parents can relax, maybe enjoy a cocktail, and watch a gorgeous Vallarta sunset.
Kids Love: quesadillas or the Baja-style fish tacos.
Porfirios, Hotel Zone
With live mariachi shows on the weekends, desserts served up with tabletop arcade games, and a supervised Kid’s Club, this upscale take on Mexican cuisine will keep everyone entertained.
Kids Love: tacos dorados and the mini churro cart.
Lukumbe, Los Tules
Catering specifically to families, Lukumbe has been a saving grace for many parents with a huge indoor and outdoor supervised play area including a bouncy castle, arts and crafts and more.
Kids Love: the Kids’ Menu of fun to eat favorites.
Sonora Prime, Marina Vallarta
Avoid bored, wiggly kids at the table and let them play in the supervised Kid’s Club with Nintendo, arts and crafts, games and more, until dinner is served at this chic steakhouse. And reward good behavior with the yummy sorbet cones served as an after-dinner courtesy.
Kids Love: mini sliders with fries.
It is also nice to remember that Mexican culture is very accepting of children and in any restaurant, servers will make a special effort to accommodate families and have suggestions for picky eaters, making dining out as a family easy.
