Mexico helping Canada again

Sitting at my cottage here in Parry Sound, Ontario I am very thankful for my adopted country Mexico’s help once again.

You see my cottage is just south of a raging forest fire called the Parry Sound 33. It is growing and has now consumed over 11,000 hectares of beautiful forest and is still forcing evacuations of many who risk losing it all. We bought our beautiful piece of Canadian paradise almost 20 years ago and it has been the one thing that has been a constant in my children’s lives. A place where family and friends congregate as we catch up and make wonderful new memories over the summer. My hope is that this will be a place that for many more generations of my family will enjoy with many more memories made.

So you can see this place is kind of special to me. And so hearing the news that Mexico has once again offered assistance to Canada and sent over 200 firefighters to battle this blaze is really very special to me. These firefighters have left their families behind, are risking their lives for us while working long days and living in makeshift accommodations. All for people they don’t even know. But trust me this is appreciated by all that live and visit this wonderful part of Canada. And this is not the first time Mexico has stepped up to help. Last year when the huge forest fires in British Columbia were uncontrollable, again Mexico fought them side by side with their Canadian firefighter family.

Thanks, Mexico for sending these wonderful people to help us in our time of need. It won’t be forgotten.
